Light that moves: SV Würmla puts its trust in sustainable floodlighting solution from SmartArena

Würmla, Lower Austria – When passion for sports meets technical innovation, the result is more than just brightness – it’s the future. SV Würmla is now relying on state-of-the-art lighting technology from SmartArena, proving that sustainability and performance go hand in hand. A strong team consisting of store and more GmbH, electrics and more Elektromontagen GmbH, and SmartArena was brought in to modernize the sports club’s existing floodlight system. A powerful 200 lux floodlight system was installed on the existing six masts – for optimal visibility during training and matches.

The project was precisely planned, efficiently implemented, and tailored exactly to the sports club’s requirements. The focus was particularly on combining energy efficiency, smart control, and sustainability. As an added bonus, the sports club was also able to apply for funding for the project from Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH (KPC), the specialist for funding climate and environmental protection projects. Based on the requirements specified by KPC, a dimming system for training operations was also integrated. This allows the light intensity to be flexibly adjusted – full power for games, energy-optimized lighting for training. With the new LED technology, the connected load of the system was almost reduced by half: while the old system required 29 kW, the new SmartArena floodlight system requires only 16 kW. – And that’s with improved light quality and more uniform illumination of the playing field.

This conversion to COB LED technology impressively demonstrates how sustainable technology and sporting activities can go hand in hand. For SV Würmla, this not only means lower operating costs, but also allows the sports club to make an important contribution to environmental protection. At the same time, players and spectators benefit from optimal lighting that perfectly illuminates every game situation.

SmartArena stands for holistic lighting solutions that relieve the burden on clubs in the long term, inspire them, and lead them into the future. The project in Würmla is another example of how technical expertise, sustainable thinking, and partnership-based cooperation can achieve great things—lighting that inspires and moves people.
