Hundsheim, Lower Austria – SV Hundsheim demonstrates how existing sports facilities can be upgraded efficiently and with an eye toward the future using modern lighting technology. By modernizing its floodlight system, the sports club is investing in a high-performance and sustainable lighting solution from SmartArena. Both the training field and the competition field have been equipped with modern COB LED technology, which ensures homogeneous and uniform illumination of the playing surfaces and combines high light quality with energy-efficient operation.
The new LED floodlight system achieves an illuminance of 200 lux at a color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin, thereby providing optimal lighting conditions for training and matches. In addition, the system meets the requirements of the Lower Austrian Soccer Association for competitive play, providing ideal conditions for competitive matches.
The SwitchDim control system provides additional flexibility. It allows the lighting to be adjusted to the specific use of the sports facility as needed. Depending on whether the sports fields are being used for training or competition, the illuminance level can be selected accordingly. This ensures that only the amount of light that is actually needed is used – an important factor for the cost-efficient and resource-efficient operation of the facility.
The reuse of the existing 18-meter-high floodlight poles also contributes to the project’s sustainable implementation. The existing infrastructure was preserved and combined with modern LED technology. This reduced the effort required for the modernization while allowing the club to benefit from a state-of-the-art lighting solution.
In collaboration with the project partners store and more GmbH and electrics and more GmbH, an energy- and cost-efficient LED floodlight system was implemented at SV Hundsheim, combining high-quality lighting with flexible control and the sustainable use of existing resources.
