Lilienfeld, Lower Austria – The SC PREFA Lilienfeld and the TC Lilienfeld have invested in a high-tech floodlight system from SmartArena to illuminate their sports fields. This forward-looking project was implemented in cooperation with the municipality, the clubs, and SmartArena, and sets both ecological and sporting standards. The aim was to make the sports fields suitable for competition while ensuring energy efficiency and neighborliness, thereby creating real added value for all athletes and citizens.

A 200 lux (class II) system was installed at the SC PREFA Lilienfeld competition venue. The DLC (Direct Light Control) shading system from SmartArena ensures that the light is directed precisely onto the playing field – without any annoying stray light. The system is supplemented by an intelligent Swirch Dim control system, which allows the lighting to be flexibly adapted to the respective use. The result: a 10% increase in efficiency with a compact output of only 15 kW.
The artificial turf training pitch was fitted with a class III system, which provides an ideal training environment and can also be operated in an energy-efficient manner.

The TC Lilienfeld tennis court has also been modernized: a newly constructed single-mast system is used here, ensuring lighting of 300 lux (class II). This guarantees optimal conditions for training and competition.
When installing the new COB LED floodlight system, it was particularly important to take the neighborhood into consideration. Although the court is only 10 meters away from adjacent residential areas, all prescribed light emission values according to ÖNORM O 1052 are reliably complied with.
The new floodlight systems are not only an investment in the clubs’ infrastructure, but also in the entire region. In an interview with “Mein Bezirk,” Mayor Manuel Aichberger emphasizes the importance of the project: “With the new floodlight systems on our sports fields, we are implementing another concrete measure from our election and work program for the period 2025-2030. The new lighting was not only a major wish of the sports clubs in order to remain competitive, but also represents a great benefit for the athletes, all sports enthusiasts, and spectators. We are proud to have now implemented the highest technical standards and, at the same time, secured optimal financing through subsidies.”

The report in “Mein Bezirk” sheds light on the background and highlights the project’s great significance for the sporting community.
