Vienna – By modernizing the floodlight systems on three sports fields at its club grounds on Hasenleitengasse, SC Ostbahn XI is investing in a high-performance, energy-efficient, and sustainable lighting solution. For the retrofit, the Vienna-based sports club opted for a modern LED floodlight system from SmartArena, which combines optimal lighting conditions for training and competition with high cost-effectiveness.
The new systems achieve an illuminance of 200 lux on each of the three playing fields, thereby creating ideal conditions for daily training and match operations. At the same time, the COB LED technology used ensures uniform and homogeneous illumination of the playing surfaces.
Flexible lighting control for various usage scenarios
A key component of the project is the integrated DALI wireless dimming system. It allows the lighting intensity to be adjusted as needed to meet different requirements – for a wide range of training and competition modes.

Precise light control thanks to the DLC shading system
In this project, attention was also paid to reducing light pollution. For this reason, the entire floodlight system was equipped with SmartArena’s DLC (Direct-Light-Control) shading system. Thanks to precise light control, the light is directed specifically onto the playing surface, while stray light outside the sports area is reduced to a minimum.
