Illmitz, Burgenland – Both FC Illmitz and TC Illmitz have invested in the future of their sports infrastructure and set a major milestone toward sustainable and efficient lighting technology. The local soccer field and three tennis courts in the Burgenland market town have been upgraded with a modern COB LED floodlight system from SmartArena.
The existing infrastructure could be used for the modernization of the lighting system. This significantly reduced the effort and costs associated with a complete new construction.
A floodlight system with a light point height of 18 meters in accordance with lighting class II was installed at the FC Illmitz soccer field. The tennis courts at TC Illmitz were designed for a light point height of 16 meters and also comply with lighting class II standards.
SmartArena’s COB LED technology impresses with maximum uniformity of light distribution and minimal stray light emissions. In addition, the technology is sustainable and significantly reduces the connected load and maintenance costs compared to the old system, thereby enabling long-term cost savings.
Another added value of the new lighting system comes from the additional dimming function. The modern DALI wireless system “basicDIM Wireless” from Tridonic enables flexible, wireless control of the lighting via Bluetooth® Low Energy technology. This allows the light intensity to be adjusted individually and situationally to the available daylight. The result is optimal lighting conditions for athletes while significantly reducing energy consumption. At the same time, this creates better training conditions, longer usage times, and sustainable use of existing sports facilities—a decisive factor for clubs and communities.
The project was realized in close, professional cooperation with the teams at BE Solution GmbH and Montron GmbH. The perfect interplay of planning, technology, and execution enabled smooth implementation and a result that is both technically and economically impressive.
