Nötsch, Carinthia – With a forward-looking investment in the infrastructure of its artificial turf pitch, the ATUS VFI-Center Nötsch is setting the course for modern and sustainable training and match operations. The Carinthian club opted for a high-performance COB LED floodlight system from SmartArena – focusing on efficiency, quality, and innovative control technology.

Existing infrastructure put to good use
The existing 18-meter-high floodlight poles were used to implement the project. Instead of erecting new poles, the existing infrastructure was technically upgraded.
This has several advantages:
- Resource-efficient and sustainable
- Significantly lower investment costs
- Reduced structural intervention
With an illuminance of 200 lux, the new system meets all the requirements for modern training and playing on artificial turf.
State-of-the-art technology for optimal lighting conditions
The latest COB LED technology from SmartArena is used. It ensures:
- High light quality
- Uniform light distribution
- Minimal stray light emission
- Pleasant, glare-free illumination
These optimal lighting and visibility conditions benefit players, coaching staff, referees, and spectators alike.
A special technical highlight is the wireless DALI control system with app operation. The system can be flexibly controlled via smartphone – individual scenarios can be called up as required. It enables flexible and precise control of the lighting and makes the operation of the sports field particularly efficient.
Significant relief in everyday training
Mario Skina, section manager at ATUS VFI-Center Nötsch, confirms the positive experiences from practice:
“As a player and coach, I can confirm from recent practice that the light quality for our training sessions and games is absolutely extremely satisfactory. The simple operation via the mobile app in particular represents a significant improvement for us and is a great support in training operations.
In my role as the person responsible for the club who oversaw the installation of the new floodlight system, I can also say that the cooperation and communication with the teams from SmartArena, Ecoworld LCL, and STICH® went smoothly throughout. All requirements were taken into account and implemented. Even subsequent adjustments that arose during operation were carried out without any problems.”
Economical and sustainable
In addition to improved light quality, the new system also scores highly in economic terms:
- Low power consumption
- Long service life
- Minimal maintenance costs
- High operational reliability
SmartArena lighting technology is manufactured at the company’s own production facility in Styria. Short supply chains and regional value creation are therefore additional advantages of SmartArena technology and make a valuable contribution to sustainability.
Successful implementation within a strong partner network
The project was carried out in collaboration with Ecoworld LCL GmbH and STICH® – Stichaller GmbH. Close cooperation between all project partners ensured smooth implementation and a result that is both technically and economically impressive.
With the modernization of the floodlight system, the ATUS VFI-Center Nötsch is sending a clear signal for sustainable sports infrastructure and optimal training conditions – today and in the future.
