Waidhofen / Ybbs, Lower Austria – The Alpenstadion in Waidhofen an der Ybbs has opted for a high-quality COB LED floodlight system from SmartArena for the modernization of its sports field lighting. This meets the high requirements of modern sports facilities in every respect.
As part of the new lighting concept, the artificial turf pitch and the competition pitch were brought up to the latest state of the art: the floodlight system on the artificial turf pitch has a light point height of 16 meters, while the competition pitch has 25 meters. A total of eight existing poles were equipped with the new technology. The system provides a light intensity of 200 lux on both pitches. The warm white light (3000 Kelvin) provides pleasant illumination that meets the requirements for training and matches in equal measure.
In addition to the even light distribution and extremely low stray light, the new floodlight system also impresses with its low power consumption. The connected load for the artificial turf pitch is 16.5 kW and 23 kW for the competition pitch. This significantly reduces CO2 and protects the environment. In addition, the new LED technology requires less maintenance and is much more cost-efficient to maintain than the old solution. This represents an important milestone for the future – both in terms of sustainability and future-proof lighting quality.
The project was implemented thanks to the excellent collaboration between SmartArena and the teams from Montron GmbH and store and more GmbH. Thanks to professional collaboration at eye level, profound planning and clear communication, the project was implemented efficiently. It is an example of regional partnership, technical precision and responsible use of light and energy.
