Upper Austria, Steyr – SK BMD Vorwärts Steyr has extensively modernized its existing floodlighting system, opting for an innovative LED solution from SmartArena. The goal of the project was to raise the quality of lighting to a new level while creating an infrastructure that is both economically and environmentally sustainable.
With an illuminance of 400 lux, the new system meets the demanding requirements of training and match operations and ensures optimal visibility across the entire playing field.
Flexibility through intelligent control
A key feature of SmartArena’s new floodlighting solution is its integrated DALI wireless dimming system. It enables precise, demand-based adjustment of light output – tailored to each specific application.
Whether it’s reduced lighting during training or full power during games: The flexible lighting control system not only creates ideal conditions for athletes and spectators, but also contributes to a significant reduction in energy consumption.
Precise light control for maximum efficiency
In addition, the DLC (Direct-Light-Control) shading system was implemented. This technology ensures that light is precisely directed onto the playing field and reduces unwanted light emissions outside the field.
This is a crucial factor, particularly for sports facilities in sensitive environments – both in terms of environmental considerations and acceptance by local residents.

The TERA Gen3r floodlights from SmartArena are based on modern COB LED technology and offer a number of key advantages for long-term operation:
