The existing infrastructure could be used for the modernization of the lighting system. This significantly reduced the effort and costs associated with a complete new construction.

A floodlight system with a light point height of 18 meters in accordance with lighting class II was installed at the FC Illmitz soccer field. The tennis courts at TC Illmitz were designed for a light point height of 16 meters and also comply with lighting class II standards.

SmartArena’s COB LED technology impresses with maximum uniformity of light distribution and minimal stray light emissions. In addition, the technology is sustainable and significantly reduces the connected load and maintenance costs compared to the old system, thereby enabling long-term cost savings.

Another added value of the new lighting system comes from the additional dimming function. The modern DALI wireless system “basicDIM Wireless” from Tridonic enables flexible, wireless control of the lighting via Bluetooth® Low Energy technology. This allows the light intensity to be adjusted individually and situationally to the available daylight. The result is optimal lighting conditions for athletes while significantly reducing energy consumption. At the same time, this creates better training conditions, longer usage times, and sustainable use of existing sports facilities—a decisive factor for clubs and communities.

 
The project was realized in close, professional cooperation with the teams at BE Solution GmbH and Montron GmbH. The perfect interplay of planning, technology, and execution enabled smooth implementation and a result that is both technically and economically impressive.

Thanks to the renovation of the floodlight system at the soccer field, the connected load was reduced by around 45% from 18 kW to just 10 kW, resulting in enormous energy savings. The new six-pole system provides uniform, bright light across the entire training field and complies with soccer class III. Thanks to intelligent Switch Dim control, the brightness can be individually adjusted to the conditions, which also reduces energy consumption.

 
The club also decided to equip the tennis court with a high-quality floodlight system from SmartArena. A two-pole system was installed for the doubles court – this complies with Class II and illuminates the two tennis courts from one side across the entire playing field. With a connected load of only 3.5 kW, the system proves that precision, energy efficiency, and visual quality are not mutually exclusive. Players benefit from optimal visibility and glare-free lighting that makes every match an experience.

For the new LED floodlight system, a special single-pole system was installed between the pitches to be illuminated. With a connected load of just 5.6 kW, the system is particularly energy-efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly – without having to compromise on the quality of light. The COB LED technology ensures low maintenance, a long service life and low operating costs – real added value for the club.

The floodlight system at the tennis court of the TC Jois is based on two 12-metre-high poles, which ensure uniform illumination of the entire court. This guarantees ideal visibility for the audience and glare-free conditions on the tennis court for athletes. With 500 lux, the system meets the high requirements of tennis class I.

Thanks to the Direct-Light-Control (DLC) shading system from SmartArena, light immissions are reduced to a minimum. This maintains optimum illumination of the court and also protects local residents from stray light.

SmartArena LED floodlights are manufactured to the latest production standards in Teufenbach (Styria) and have impressed the Burgenland tennis club not only with their high performance but also with their energy efficiency. With the new lighting system, it is now possible to illuminate each individual tennis court separately, allowing the floodlights to be used only where they are needed. This reduces electricity consumption and makes a significant contribution to sustainability. The connected load of the entire lighting system is 8.4 kWh, while that of pitches 1 and 3 is only 2.4 kWh each. The flexible, event-related commissioning of each floodlight system for each tennis court means that the lighting on the court is used in an energy-efficient and ultimately costefficient manner. In addition, the new SmartArena system complies with Class II in accordance with ÖNORM EN 12193 and O1052.

 
Thanks to the cooperation with store and more, this project was also successfully implemented. The tennis courts of the UTC Hollabrunn now shine in a new light and offer the players the best conditions – both in training and competition situations.
