Lower Austria, St. Andrä-Wördern – Two playing fields, modern LED floodlight technology, and a challenging location in the middle of a densely built-up residential area: When redesigning the sports facility lighting at USV St. Andrä-Wördern, the goal was to combine optimal lighting conditions for competition and training with minimizing the impact on surrounding residential areas. In collaboration with store and more GmbH, a high-performance and energy-efficient LED floodlighting solution from SmartArena was implemented. Thanks to advanced COB LED technology and the DLC shading system, light is precisely directed onto the playing fields, while stray light is reduced to a minimum.
High-quality sports lighting with minimal impact on the surrounding area
The USV St. Andrä-Wördern sports facility is located in a densely built-up area with residential buildings immediately adjacent to it. Consequently, high demands were placed on the lighting design and the precise alignment of the new floodlight system. In addition to providing uniform and standards-compliant illumination of the playing fields, particular emphasis was placed on minimizing stray light directed toward the surrounding residential areas.
The COB LED technology from SmartArena used in this project is characterized by uniform light distribution and high energy efficiency. In addition, the Direct-Light-Control (DLC) shading system ensures that glare and light emissions are minimized. This directs light precisely where it is needed – onto the playing fields.
Two playing fields, different requirements
The new LED floodlight system was specifically tailored to the club’s varying requirements. While the competition field meets the requirements of lighting class II in accordance with EN 12193, the training field was designed to meet lighting class III.
The DALI wireless control system from Tridonic, which is used on both fields, provides additional flexibility for day-to-day operations. It enables convenient, needs-based control of the lighting and allows lighting conditions to be adapted to different operating requirements. This further optimizes energy consumption without compromising on high-quality illumination.
Energy-efficient LED technology for long-term use
In addition to its high-quality illumination and precise light distribution, the new floodlight system stands out for its energy and cost efficiency. SmartArena’s durable and low-maintenance COB LED technology helps reduce ongoing energy costs and maintenance requirements, thereby improving the long-term cost-effectiveness of the sports facility lighting.
With the new LED floodlight system, USV St. Andrä-Wördern now has a modern lighting solution that combines sporting requirements, energy-efficient operation, and consideration for the urban environment.
